Sara joined Strategic Perspectives in May 2024 as an International Relations Analyst.
In this role, she supports the team in developing an international relations strategy, with a focus on four main workstreams moving from energy transition diplomacy to the international stance of the EU. In this capacity, Sara also monitors developments relevant to the global affairs sphere and policy decision-making at the EU and global level, and keeps track of major developments in the European energy debate.
Previously, Sara worked as a Sustainable Finance and Energy Policy Officer for IOGP Europe, a business association in Brussels, Belgium, operating in the energy sector, supporting the transition of the oil and gas industry to net zero and helping their position ahead of the EU institutions. During her time at IOGP Europe, Sara worked on various topics, from the EU Taxonomy Regulation to foreign subsidies, and helped the team develop engagement strategies with various stakeholders, including national and supranational institutions, other business associations and private companies.
Before joining IOGP, Sara worked for the European Commission’s DG GROW, where she completed her BlueBook traineeship. Her focus was on the EU funding mechanisms and international access to finance, helping colleagues in harmonising investment programs with multilateral financial institutions, including the EBRD and the national promotional banks and institutions (NBPIs). She also helped in the coordination of sustainable finance policies across DGs and with the monitoring of international value chains.
Prior to DG GROW, Sara worked for the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers both as a Liaison Officer for the G20 and as an International Relations analyst for the Youth Department, and served as a Trainee for the Italian Embassy in Tehran, Iran, where she assisted in the monitoring and analysis of the Presidential Elections in Iran and energy dynamics in the MENA region. She was a contributing editor for an Italian think tank, with a focus on foreign affairs and energy issues in the MENA region and the post-Soviet space.
Sara studied between Rome, Italy; Montreal, Canada; and Moscow, Russia. She is based in Brussels, Belgium. She speaks native Italian and fluent English, French and Spanish, with knowledge of Russian. She enjoys travelling and reading Russian literature, and nurtures a passion for foreign languages.
